Among his many achievements, Gaikwad’s unbeaten 81 against the West Indies in Jamaica in 1976 stands out. Facing a formidable pace attack without a helmet, he bravely endured a blow from Michael Holding that ruptured his eardrum, leading to his hospitalization.
