Locals 'fight' with Indians in Maldives, 2 injured
Diplomatic tension between India and Maldives has been going on for quite some time. But in the meantime, two people were injured in a 'clash' between a group of Maldivian locals and Indians.
According to Indian media reports, a Maldivian citizen has been taken into custody in this incident.
Two groups clashed near Central Park in Hulhumal, about 7 kilometers northeast of Male, on Monday (April 29) at around 9pm, Firstpost reported, citing local media in the Maldives.
According to media reports citing the police, the detained suspect is a Maldivian citizen. However, the identity of the injured has not been released.
It is reported that two seriously injured persons were sent to Hulhumal Hospital. They were released after treatment.
According to the police, a fight broke out between the Indian and Maldivian sides inside the park. An investigation is underway to find out more about this.
