Shahbaz is the new Prime Minister of Pakistan
PML-N leader Shahbaz Sharif was elected as the 24th Prime Minister of Pakistan after many dramas. Voting for the post of Prime Minister was held in the National Assembly on Sunday (March 3). Shahbaz was elected by getting 201 votes. And rival Imran Khan's PTI-backed candidate Omar Ayub got 92 votes.

Earlier, polling was scheduled to begin at 11 am local time on Sunday (March 3). However, the Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq could not start the polling at the scheduled time due to the noise and sloganeering of the members of the Sunni Ittehad Council. Members of the Sunni Ittehad Council raised slogans in support of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and against the return of Shahbaz Sharif when the National Assembly started. At this time, a loud commotion started.
Later Speaker Sadiq started voting by ringing the assembly bell. Due to the ruckus, polling started much later than the scheduled time.
