Need to overcome mistrust with votes: CEC

CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said there was a need to overcome the mistrust that had been created regarding the polls. However, a large party did not participate in the elections. As a result, many people may not be interested in voting. It could have been.

CEC said these things in the discussion of National Voter's Day on Saturday. The Election Commission (EC) organized the event at the Agargaon election building in the capital.

CEC Kazi Habibul Awal said that voters are needed to conduct elections. A major aim of Voter's Day should be to energize the electorate.

They should be able to express their opinions intelligently and freely through the ballot, and the representatives of their choice may be elected and form the government.

Election Commissioner said in the meeting. Alamgir said, many people do not vote, maybe they think that there is no environment to vote.

Citing his statement, CEC Kazi Habibul Awal said that many people do not want to vote. There can be many reasons for not being interested in voting.

Many people think, what will happen with voting, whether they can vote correctly or not. He also said that there was a need to overcome the mistrust that had been created regarding voting. As a whole BNP did not participate in the elections, naturally many did not turn up to vote, this may have happened.

The CEC said that the work of the Election Commission is to ensure the voting rights of the voters. To advance democracy, the voting system must be maintained.

From that point of view, the Election Commission has a big responsibility.

The Election Commission is independent. In many cases the power must be exercised independently. Must speak freely. But those who are strong, do not like the freedom of others too much.

Electoral Commissioner among others in the meeting. Ahsan Habib Khan and Rasheda Sultana spoke.
