Australia women's team is coming to Bangladesh to play bilateral series for the first time with four spinners. Australia today announced the team for the ODI and T20 series to be held in March-April.
Leg spinners Alana King and Georgia Wareham, left-arm spinner Sophie Molyneux are joined by spin bowling all-rounder Ashley Gardner.
Australia has left out veteran Jess Jonassen from the team for this tour. This is the first time the left-arm spinner has been left out of a touring team without injury since his international debut in 2012. The career of Jonassen, who played 204 international matches in three editions, did not end here, as chief selector Sean Flagler reminded him. Jonassen is currently in India to play the women's IPL.
"I don't think Jez (Jess Jonassen) has had a solid role in the team over the last two years, especially the last 12 months," Shawn Flagler said. But that's largely due to players like Ash Gardner improving themselves. Georgia Wareham's skills have also improved. Alan King's form has also been very good in the last 12-18 months.'

Then 25-year-old Vlaminck was not even in last year's T20 World Cup after ODI World Cup, Commonwealth Games due to stress fracture in leg.
Bangladesh has never faced Australia in a bilateral series before. Australia last came to Bangladesh to play T20 World Cup 2014. The Australian team is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on March 17.
All the three ODIs and three T20 matches of the series will be played at Mirpur Sherebangla Stadium. There will be three ODIs on March 21, 24 and 27. Then there will be three T20 matches on March 31 and April 2 and 4. The ODI matches as part of the 2022-25 ICC Women's Championship will start at 9:30 am. T20 match start time is 12 noon.
