Electricity price hike notification, effective from February

The Ministry of Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources has issued a notification to increase the price of electricity at the consumer level. On Thursday (February 29) by order of the President, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Electricity Department. Nabirul Islam signed the declaration. The customer will have to pay the additional cost of electricity from the month of February.

According to the notification, customers using zero to 50 units will now have to pay 4 taka 63 paisa per unit. So far its price was 4 taka 35 paisa per unit. That is, now the price per unit has increased by 28 paise for these customers. And for customers using zero to 75 units increased by 41 paise per unit. The new price has been fixed at 5.26 paise per unit.

Customers using 76 to 200 units will now have to pay an additional 57 paise per unit. The price of electricity has increased by 64 paise per unit for customers using 201 to 300 units, while customers using 301 to 400 units will now have to pay an additional 68 paise per unit. In the case of customers using between 401 and 600 units, the electricity price has increased by one taka 16 paisa per unit and for customers using more than 600 units, the price of electricity has increased by one taka 35 paisa per unit.

Apart from this, customers of small scale industries will have to pay flat time electricity price at 10 taka 76 paisa per unit. Earlier its price was 9 taka 88 paisa. For these off-peak consumers, the price per unit has increased by 80 paise. And during the peak period the price has increased by one taka 10 paisa per unit. The new price is 12 taka 95 paisa per unit.

On the other hand, the price of commercial customers has increased by 08 paise per flat unit, off-peak by 98 paise per unit and during peak hours by 1 taka 31 paise per unit.

According to the new rate, the price of electricity per unit of irrigation has been increased from 4 taka 82 paisa to 5 taka 25 paisa. Besides, the price of electricity per unit has been increased from 6 taka 97 paisa to 7 taka 55 paisa in educational, religious, hospital and charitable institutions.
